Happy Fourth of July, Everybody!
It’s the first half of the month of July and here in America, that means a special day is upon us, a very special day. It’s a day that America can’t forget and wouldn’t be where it is today without it.
It’s new laws day! That’s right, June 1 is the day the new passed laws officially take effect. Here’s some of the dumber of the fare, brought to you by USA Today.
Georgia and Mississippi each have new abortion requirements. Because they weren’t able to get rid of abortion rights or acheive “turning back time technology,” they required mothers seeking an abortion to see or hear the baby first. In Georgia, they have to see the baby’s ultrasound and in Mississippi, they have to hear the baby’s heartbeat. What’s next? Will they have to wait for the baby to take their first steps before they can have an abortion?
Things are so bad in Florida that they had to pass a law forbidding the commercial use of names or pictures of deceased service men. People are using fallen veterans in commercials? Those used car dealers are really getting scummy.
But believe it or not, there’s a really good law in this list. Virginia drivers 17 years old or younger cannot talk on cell phones while driving. The rest can talk on phones because we say so.
