For the record, we don’t think there is anything remotely funny about this bill. We do, however, think the guy trying to push it through the legislature is a huge joke.

According to the Boston Herald, a legislator in Massachusetts is trying to pass a bill that would lower the legal blood alcohol level for drunk driving from .08 to .02.

Anyone care to guess what the legislator does for a living? He’s a criminal defense attorney for drunk drivers. Say, this wouldn’t have anything to do with that, would it? No, of course not and Courtney Love’s sober.

Rep. James Fagan said he created the bill because scientific data shows that a 160 to 240 pound man can blow a .02 with just a simple glass of wine drunk over an hour. Yeah, that’s a good idea to pass this bill in a state that contains the city of Boston where revolutionaries once fought an entire war over a beer tax.

So far, other legislators have called the bill unfair and “a huge sledgehammer to everyone” because it will clog the state with drunk driving cases and flood the cities’ public transit systems. That is unless, of course, the bus driver doesn’t have to take the bus to work too.
