Ticket to Deride
D.C. is a screwy town. That’s the understatement of the year. That’s like saying that all vegans are miserable and Rush Limbaugh must be on drugs.
But it goes beyond all logic. MyFoxDC discovered that townships throughout the city have completely different laws.
They are so different that you can get a ticket for one thing on one side of town that you won’t get a ticket for on the other. For instance, the area containing the Capitol building doesn’t have laws for cheating, stealing or lying under oath but the rest of the city does.
It’s all because the state of Maryland allows each individual town to set their own laws during to a special tax designation that allows them to govern themselves. So each town can have different laws for traffic enforcement and even how they enforce laws and levy fines. The only way it could be sweeter is if the state law ran the idea further and allowed the people to govern themselves. Now that’s freedom.
