Wesselhoft is Oft His Rocker
For Rep. Paul Wesselhoft, his heart is in the right place but his head is somewhere else.
Wesselhoft wants to make being in a gang against the law, but the law won’t stick and he’s pursuing it anyway, according to the AP.
He said he knows the bill won’t become a law because it’s unconstitutional, but he wants to storm ahead with it anyway. Hey, he’s a lawmaker. It’s not like he gets a bonus for performance.
He doesn’t really give a reason for wanting to forge ahead with a bill that’s doomed to fail. Sure there’s the obvious reasons, but wouldn’t his time be better spent exploring legislation that could legally change gang activity and violence in his district instead of whizzing taxpayers’ money away like so much cheap beer?
What does pushing a bill that won’t stick accomplish even if your goal is to send a message to potential gang members? The bloods don’t watch C-Span.
